Copper tape around display connector missing.

Hi.. My nephew recently bought an iPT 4G with a broken screen (white screen displaying) After trying all ways and tips on here how to fix it and nothing working decided it must just need a new screen replacement.

However, when going to remove the display connector, noticed it was missing the copper tape that loops around it onto the logic board.

I tried fitting the new screen anyway without it, but still shows white screen :( so was wondering if i can buy a replacement strip of this copper tape from anywhere, or would I need to buy a broken iPT4G for parts to take it from?..

Just fixed one with a persistent white screen...

1.) Copper tape is not super important--don't get wrapped up worrying about it. Many out there working fine are like this.

2.) This iPod needs a hard reset---in the case of the one I fixed, we later realized that the top power button was not working. Therefore holding power and home to try and force a restart did not actually do it---white screen persisted.

3.) The alternate way to do a hard reset is to just desolder the battery, and then solder it right back in. Plug in to a charger to prompt phone to reboot----Apple logo. normal screen.

Second method--allow the battery to completely die to zero, then plug into charger.

Many times the iPod touch needs a hard reset in order to cure the white screen problem.

hope this one is lucky for you

Thank u for ur help + advice on fixing this.. It's very much appreciated☺️

Unfortunately have tried hard reset several times already tho, which does appear to power off when I do it ,so both buttons seem to work okay. Although, it doesn't matter how long I hold waiting for either the apple logo or white screen to appear again, nothing does.. I do get the sound alert that its powering back on when I try connected to PC, but shows nothing except black screen lol

Hav also tried putting into DFU, Restoring with iTunes, and draining battery. Hav done the reset holding home + Volume up buttons then sleep button as well but just getting the same result as the hard reset

This is a damaged screen. I was training a new technician today, and the same thing happened to her. It is tough to work with the iTouch 4. She had her new screen showing an image, but had dead spots on the digitizer so she had to go back in and reseat that connector. Then she had white screen when she was testing. The LCD connector pops off so easily and then is a little bit difficult to connect again--I think if it is on a bit askew the phone will show white screen. She tried seating it several times and various hard resets and then it was just dark no matter what--in the end I gave her a new screen to try. The new screen came up white. We lifted battery connector and saw the Apple logo. Eventually, this screen also failed before she got everything back together fully sealed and I handed her a third screen! You're not alone!

The third screen worked just fine---nothing substitutes for experience, that's all it is.

PS: In this situation, the tool of desoldering/soldering the battery connector to force a restart that you're sure worked is a really strong tool for troubleshooting.

Thank you.. Will try again with new screen.. Will post the result. Hopefully this will be it fixed after tho, bc it's about this

If the copper tape was missing someone inexperienced has already attempted to fix the ipod and most likely even further damaged it. people who are not careful or know what they are doing usually get white screens during ipod repair due to carelessness. replacing the copper tape wont fix this
