fourth generation iPod 2004 40gb won't show content music and audibooks are in but won't show on display or I tunes

What do you mean by they are in? You loaded them on your iPod? How did you do that? You used iTunes? Did anything show up in iTunes before? Is this a new problem? What have you tried?
