My phone is a couple years old and it is starting to slow down drastically. Sometimes apps take a while to load and messages and emails take longer to send. I figure that it could be from all of the information stored on my phone but I'm not sure. Is there anything I can do to increase my phone speed?

Trying a "cache wipe" - it will NOT clear your personal data.
1. Shut down device
2. Hold Volume Down and the Power buttons until you boot into the HBOOT menu
3. Select the Recovery option using the Volume button
4. The white HTC screen will appear followed by a black screen
5. It would say failed to mount SD four times - wait until it turns into a red triangle with an exclamation point
6. From there, hold down the Volume Up and then press the power button
7. A stock recovery list should appear - select wipe/cache

Use some cleaning tool to remove cache and junk files from your iPhone. And restart your cell phone when it is very slow. It's my personal experience. lol

That is an older phone. All you can really try that will REALLY help is to do a factory wipe. It worked for my brothers casio gz'one. That phone has a very bad processor in it so i am glad i did the reset.

I use 3 specific tools to combat this. Greenify lets you put apps into hibernation so they don't use your CPU:

Battery Doctor is great for killing background processes:

And Clean Master gets rid of all the file system cruff that builds up:

All three of these have options to automatically clean/hibernate. Greenify can create a shortcut for you to manually put apps to sleep. I'd take a few minutes to play with them and see how they work for you. They are all available for free. :)
This combination has worked for me with several phones, I hope it does for you as well....

u have 2 delete stuff on the phone, or transfer it to a computer
