DC-in repair or replace?

(apologies if this is a duplicate post -- looks like my original post didn't actually go through!)

I'm having trouble with getting my iBook to charge properly. I replaced the power supply a year or so ago and have had relative success with it since then. I have noticed over the last few months, though, that it's increasingly difficult to find the "sweet spot" where the connection is right to get the power supply to be recognized. Often, it's plugged in, the light ring is amber, but the iBook thinks its running on batter power. Sometimes it cycles (rapidly) between thinking it's plugged in/on battery/plugged in/on battery.

I realize this is generally not good for the machine, so am ready to take action.

I'm assuming this is a DC-in issue. My question is whether I may be able to repair the DC-in component, or whether this is something that simply needs to be replaced when it starts to fail? Are there connections I can check?

I've already taken this iBook down to its guts and replaced the hard drive, so I'm not worried about the work, just wondering whether it's worth the effort to open it up and try to repair, or whether I should just order the replacement part?

Thanks!!

If you ordered in an off brand of the charger, that may be what's failing. Also the outer ring of the jack sometimes get bent so that it doesn't fit snugly and causes sporadic contact. Look to see if it's a sloppy fit and squeeze it tighter if need be. Test the charger on another machine if you can. Only after you have determined the charger is good would I look at the DC IN port.

Here's the DC-IN board: [연계 제품이 누락 또는 비활성화 됨: IF183-030]
