That's what happens when you create you own solution, some of them don't work.
More than likely you do not have good contact within the connector(s), or the connectors may be shorting out (without images it's only guess).
Go back over the connections of the connectors. 99% of reassembly problems trace back to connections (connectors) that were "thought" to be correct but upon reexamination turned out to be poor or incomplete.
