Can my home button be fixed?

My daughter dripped something on the home button on her Galaxy Tab 3 lite and the button got stuck. I have managed to get it "unstuck" but now it is having problems working. If you press hard on the button it works sometimes, but if you press normally it doesn't. I don't want to go pressing real hard on it all the time because I don't want to make it worse. Is there any way to clean it up so it will work again or will that just make it worse?
