It's hard to know without being able to look at it. It could be a problem with the HDMI port, cable, etc. It could be a problem with your TV (make sure the input is set correctly) or you could have a faulty HDMI chip on the motherboard of the Xbox.
I would check all of the easy things first...try another cable, try wiggling the cable, check the HDMI port to see if it looks bad, etc.
