I am having problem with my asus laptop.
The battery suddenly stopped charging. when i connect the charger the battery icon gives message
(0%,connected,charging) but the battery won't charge and the laptop shuts down when i remove the charger. My laptop is ASUS Q501LA and its 13 months old. Please suggest me how to troubleshoot this issue.

You most likely have a bad battery. From what you describe the OS detects the charger properly and that the charger has enough amperage to charge the battery.

Sometimes the adapter connecting the battery to the motherboard gets loose from unsafe carrying. I've opened this laptop a few times, changing the hdd, ram, and this has happened to me a few times. To illustrate this better I attached a link to the part I am referring to. (my laptop disassembled ) Once you disassemble the laptop, it should be a quick fix.

You may need to replace your ASUS Q501LA battery. I met the same problem as you, and I bought a new ASUS Q501LA battery at this site: http://www.laptop-batteries.com.au/compu.... It makes my laptop come to life. satisfied with the battery.

I have this Q501LA after vacation it would not start even plugged in. Read several posts suggesting a new battery so got one installed it and it worked for one charge almost dead now. Charger cord does appear to be good but plugging in doesn't charge or run the laptop.
