Why does half of its screen doesn't respond when I touch it?

Hi, I've been using LG g2 for 1 year. these past few months, i noticed that every time i tried to bring down the notification bar, the screen doesn't respond. after a few weeks, the part above the screen doesn't respond but the lower part does. that is why i need to switch the auto rotate everytime i need to press something near the notification bar. and now only a few parts of the screen responds that is why i can't use other apps like sketchbook pro because of it. can you help me? i don't know what's the problem here, is it the lcd or its digitizer? thanks!

The digitizer is responsible for sensing touch and the LCD is only responsible for displaying the image on the screen.

Before you buy a new digitizer you may want to see if maybe reseating the digitizers connection to the motherboard will fix the issue. If there is visible damage to the digitizer or the cable then definitely buy a new digitizer and replace it.

the digitizer? not its touch screen? today, i let someone check my phone and he said that the touch screen is broken not the digitizer.just asking :)

The digitizer is the part of the display assembly that controls touch. Without a digitizer you have no touch screen but only a LCD. A touch screen is made with a protective sheet of glass on the very top that you actually touch. Under the protective glass is the digitizer which is a thin transparent sheet which contains the touch matrix and it is adhered to the protective glass with a transparent conductive adhesive. This allows the screen to sense the location that a person touches since the human touch is conductive. Under the digitizer is the LCD which only displays the image. So with no digitizer you only have a normal LCD display that can not sense touch. Hope this makes sense. Also let the person who looked at your phone know that the digitizer is the only part of the screen that makes a touch screen a touch screen.

I forgot to mention that when buying a digitizer the digitizer is already adhered to a new protective sheet of glass. You also have the option of replacing the whole lcd/digitizer display assembly which is an easier repair but costs more.
