Logic board damage - what is this component?

Hi.

I've recently discovered my MacBook's logic board was damaged, probably by the previous owner.

Picture 1 - Before cleaning

By the look of it, I guess it was Coke. After cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol, it looks like this.

As you can see, two pins of the component in the red circle are destroyed, but the device is working properly and I haven't noticed any strange behaviour.

So my questions are:

What is this component?

Which circuit is it part of?

My plan is to buy a cheap broken logic board from eBay and replace the component. My technician friend told me that was a good idea, but that I also could use it like this, because it's probably ("probably" - this is what worries me) a component which is not that important.
