Why is my computer running slow with new upgraded logic board

I'm working on a friends computer, i ended up having to replace the logic board. i opted for on suggested by ifixit that had a faster processor on it. i don't know how fast the computer ran before but compared to my own mac that's 2 years older, it's running really slow.

especially boot time, it took a minute and a half to boot compared to my 31 seconds. I've already repaired permissions using disk utility. then i took the HD out and used my sata connector and using drive pulse de fragged the HD.

reinstalling and boot up and still slow. just wondering what steps i should take. and what other people might think.

Really need more information here. Like is this the original HD that came with the system. What is the make, model & specs of the drive. How much free space does the drive have on the boot partition. How many partitions do you have. How much RAM is in the system and what is the OS-X version you are running.

Does not matter how many times you reinstall the drive it may check out ok buts it's life is nearing it's end. Try first popping a different hard drive maybe your own or just a new drive anyway. What's your ram anyway on it ? That you know will cause slow boot when you see your pinwheel turning its loading memory and some other stuff. Last take out the drive boot from usb or os disc and see if it does that. I'm preety certain the drive it's on it's way out even know it tells it's ok.

that's not a answer is it?

i will give him an answer after he tell me his original issue.

@sunny - Sometimes adding a comment is the better direction when its clear the OP needs to give us more info. Answers are just that the assessment of the information the OP offered not a comment or a followup question. If the answer has been offered that is the same as what you believe is the correct response then show it by upping the score. If there are two different answers then push the better answer up and push the wrong one down with your score.

Sunny, answering questions successfully is a learning process. The criticisms made on your posts, for the most part, are meant to help you achieve that goal. If you look at the top rated guys, you'll see we are old f*rts and would like to retire but can't till we have adequate replacements ;-)

@mayer please don't compare me with someone who doesn't have anything better to with their life.
