dc in board not charging replaced

i recently purchased a macbook pro 13 secondhand off of craigslist and has worked fine since

i had a problem with my charger and it threw a spark and burnt the DC in board so i opened it up and correctly removed it and replaced it with another brand new board i had purchased.

I followed the guide on ifixit and have succesffully managed to put it together ect.

it however does not show any sign of charging Nor does the unit the turn on

*battery died due to using it off charge*

i have no lights indacting charging on the magsafe adapter..

all my cables have been checked twice to ensure there connected

is there a reason why i might not be having any luck?

Also my bottom case is off.

Does it need to put on for the charger to activate ?

First check the output of the magsafe adapter before going to board level repairs. See the pin out on the right side of the page here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MagSafe

1) Find a boardview and a schematic online for 820-2530 logic board. This will allow you to locate components on the motherboard so you can check them. I can't help you with this because it is illegal to distribute Apple schematics and boardviews, but for twenty bucks a bunch of vagabonds in foreign countries will happily oblige(I am not one of them).

2) Measure for voltage on pin 5 of U6901. Black probe of multimeter on a screwhole, red probe on pin 5 of U6901. 3.42v, or something else?

3) Measure for voltage on pin 1 of VR5020. It should be 3.42v.

4) If voltage on in 1 of VR5020 is 3.42v, and voltage on pin 5 of U6901 is not 3.42v, then run jumper wire from pin 1 of VR5020 to pin 5 of U6901.

Ultimately if this requires anything more than running a wire between those points it is kinda junk for the purposes of reviving a six and a half year old machine. You can find boards on eBay for $177 and free shipping for this. If you really want to go down learning board repair to fix a core 2 duo I will happily follow up here, but I don't believe it is worth the time or effort for a machine that came out before I could legally buy beer.
