Heatsink Replacement - Failure? HELP! HOT!

Ok, so I was initially simply replacing my keyboard and battery, but when disassembling my heat sink just snapped right at the bottom gasket with little force.

I'd imagine that the metal had been weakened over time as I am developer, running many programs simultaenously and really give my CPU a workout.

So, I replaced the heatsink and fan, as well as did a good clean on logic board, io-board, though there was more corrosion that I had expected, but this hadn't caused me issues thusfar.

After replacing, the system is obviously not picking up on my heat sensors, though the fan is spinning and I fear leaving it on for even a few minutes and frying my ENTIRE LIFE (basically).

Now, I do have questions tho... when replacing the heatsink and fan, does the adhesive that attached the heatsink to the fan as well as the io cable need to be reapplied?

Also, could it be my io-cable? I noticed the sensor on the back side was red.. instead of white.

Computer powers on just fine, no issues there, but my temps raise... RAPIDLY with little no to CPU ussage. PLEASE HELP!

Well ... The stuff is not adhesive its thermal paste and yes! It needs to be re-applied after you fully clean both the CPU and the heat sink plate of the old paste. This is what you want: Arctic Silver cleaner & paste and follow this guide: Technique: Applying Thermal Paste.

You will also want to install this app to monitor the built in thermal sensors: Temperature Gauge Pro. That way you can see the difference.
