About middle row of screen is unresponsive after replacement.

Hi,

I am new to this forum. I replaced someone's cracked iPad 4 screen yesterday. It was unresponsive in the home screen but after doing a hard reset it was ok. Trying the screen out by holding a particular app and moving it around, it always goes back to its original position once I get to about half the screen. I re-did the whole replacement process with the same screen digitizer but there's no change. Is there any way I can fix this? I'm so scared as I am fixing it for someone else. Also, due to a really unfortunate accident water spilled in the iPad so I took off the digitizer and lcd. I wiped off water carefully and turned it upside down. Do I have to do anything else? Please don't tell me I'm careless and stupid because I know and I need to know how to fix this as soon as possible. Thanks.
