What does "out of range" mean on my cordless GE phone

I have a GE cordless phone set of 2 , model #21008GE2A, need a manual to trouble shoot...it reads " out of range on both phones. Help please. Does that mean a new battery needed, where do I get it?

Amy, that usually means your phones are to far from the base. Yes, bad batteries can be causing a decreased range. Batteries are available at places like this as well as many more.
