Kindle won't turn on

a little sauce from my take home burrito escaped the take home carton and my kindle was subsequently put in the same bag. The back seems to have had some sauce that leaked into the back of the kindle. Now it won't turn on, and when plugged into the charger only the words KINDLE FIRE come up and the screen and kindle go dead. My warranty has recently expired so Kindle won't do anything for me. Can you help?
