I recently purchased a iPhone 5 from a friend, not knowing that it was in this condition. The wifi won't connect like it won't let me talk it to turn it on or off, the brightness isn't work, I can have it turned all the way up but the screen is still dark, and it shuts off by itself. Please help me find the solution.

Sounds to me like you got a classic water damage problem going on did you open the phone up at all?
If you open the phone up you can see some water damage indication stickers on there they will be white there's one up on the LCD screen and then there's two on the motherboard one down by the charge port and one up by the camera if those are red or any of them are red and you've got water damage going on possibly, or if you don't have water damage going on you could have a bad LCD screen !
Now as far as the Wi-Fi connection goes that all contains to the water damage if there is water damage done to it.
