iPhone 6 logic board overheating below sim tray

I purchased a bent iphone 6, it was bent below the sim tray holder as if it was slammed in a truck door. The phone still worked, however after putting it in a new housing, i noticed it got extremely hot and battery died very fast. The source of the heat i found was just below the sim tray on the black shield which was bent inwards. I am aware this is only a plate covering the motherboard components, could the inwardly bent plate be touching the components causing the heat? or are the components knackered?
