I had the same problem. I won't bore you with the long details of my effort to get it fixed but I eventually discovered that the entire camera function shut down and refused to work simply because I had turned off the microphone permission for all apps. Why does the camera need a microphone to take still photos? And why will it not allow me to take videos with no sound if that's what I want? A ridiculous software flaw. This happened on three separate phones so it was not specific to one phone. Hope this helps someone with a similar problem.

Do you have an idea of what could have possibly caused the problems, such as dropping the phone, water damage, installing new apps, updating the OS, or any other things you may have done around the time you noticed a problem?
