Why won't my sleep button work after screen replacement.

I recently replaced the screen on an iPad Air Wifi. The entire process went smoothly and encountered no issues with removing/replacing the digitizer. Upon completion, I noticed the sleep button wasn't working. I am able to turn the iPad on and off by holding the power button, I can preform a soft reset, but when I click the button to turn off/on the screen nothing happens. I reopened the iPad to look for damage to any cables in the power button area, but don't see any signs of damage (or of them even being touched)

The iPad is not being used in a case, smart case or otherwise. I have already tried a soft reset multiple times. Any suggestions on how I can get the sleep function to work would be appreciated.

Your home button is screwed up. Yes, you read that right, your home button is causing your problem with the lock button. If you replaced the home button and flex, go back to the original, if you reused the original, make sure its plugged in correctly, you didn't damage the little plastic black lock bar or anything in the area on the board. If you've still gotten nowhere, replace the home button flex.

Thanks Bobby,

I replaced the home button and flex cable with the original and the sleep function is working as it should.

Home buttons not being quite right will also cause problems with a smart cover not wanting to turn off and on the way it should.
