Disk drive says,"plays DVD."

Ok I just bought a brand new motherboard for the xbox 360 and I'm using the old disk drive. Now when usually put in a game on my old motherboard it would read and say the game I was about to play but sense I got the new motherboard it just says play game or play DVD even tho I have a game in. Now here's the kicker when I hit the A button to play game it'll load then disconnect me from xbox live and take me straight back to the dashboard. I need help on how to fix this somebody please help.

is the motherboard model the same as the old one? if not it's because the disc drive needs to be the same type of drive model to the motherboard model of the console that it came with so you need to get a disc dive model that is same type of drive model to your new motherboard model.

I had a problem tike this once too. I tried everything in my power to fix it myself, but I ended up having to send it back to Xbox. They fixed it and sent it back in 3 or so weeks.
