Acer Iconia A1-830 Will not charge or turn on... permanently dead?

I've had my Acer Iconia A1-830 for a little over a year when it seemingly short circuited. It had never been dropped without its protective covering and has been well taken care of the whole time I had it. The last time it worked, the battery was nearly dead (about 5% life) when I tried to charge it. No matter which charger I tried or which outlet I plugged it in to, it was not charging, even though it charged perfectly fine the day before. When it died, I could not get it to turn back on, even with it being plugged in, so I assumed that the battery needed to be replaced. After replacing the battery, it still would not charge. So then I took it to have the charging port replaced but to no avail. The repair shop told me that it will not come on and it must have short circuited some how... Is there any fix for this? Has it in fact short circuited?
