no sound out of speakers after ipad 4 digitizer install

I've been looking all over the internet for a fix and I found nothing.

I've installed a new digitizer from here (ifixit) and everything installed great. The issue is that now I can only get sound from the headphones.

I've tried:

holding the home and power button for 10 seconds to do a reset

[didn't work]

Going into the general setting and changing the accessibility for mono sound

[didn't work]

checked the sound switch on the side and changed settings in the general settings

[didn't work]

gently cleaned out the dock connector and headphone jack of any debris

[didn't work]

More info:

The ipad is running IOS 8.3

There is no "headphone" notice when I try and change the volume. it just says volume.

Is it possible that the speakers came u plugged when you were changing the digitizer? Did you remove the logic board for any reason during the repair?

I didn't touch the logic board at all. Not sure what the speaker connector looks like. Just followed the ifixit guide

There is a small flex cable with 2 connectors that connect right by the LCD connection. Chances are you may have accidentally loosened one of them when trying to remove the LCD. They are just the flip up connectors, so sometimes you nudge one on accident. Remove the screen and LCD and check the connections on that flex cable. Also make sure the flex isn't ripped or torn.

Its the top 2 connectors in this pic:
