I am using this monitor (Samsung Sync Master 940NW) for more than one year. Since a month the screen stays black after switching on my pc. I am using two monitors, so I am able to work, but some frames start at the SyncMaster and so I am not able to continue. The issue takes 5-10 minutes.
The manual can be found here:

This manual suggests a relation with the power setting:
PowerSaver
This monitor has a built-in power management system called PowerSaver. This system saves energy
by switching your monitor into a low-power mode when it has not been used for a certain amount of
time. The monitor automatically returns to normal operation when you press a key on the keyboard. For
energy conservation, turn your monitor OFF when it is not needed, or when leaving it unattended for
long periods. The PowerSaver system operates with a VESA DPMS compliant video card installed in
your computer. Use a software utility installed on your computer to set up this feature.

compliant when used with a computer equipped with VESA DPMS

product meets the ENERGY STAR® guidelines for energy efficiency.
I changed some settings without any result.
My temporally work around was changing to one monitor and extend it later on when the SyncMaster is working normally.

did you do a backlight test? is there any video?
Any problem associated with a time to react must have a heat component. Any component can do that, so starting with the easiest to test is the way to go.
Black screen - backlight test. then capacitors, then voltage checks, then it gets difficult and becomes a board swap process.
