Keyboard keys don't always register

Hi All - I purchased an ASUS N550JK in November 2014 with Windows 8.1 and have since upgraded to Windows 10. I am having issues with the keyboard when I type. For some reason, my keys are not picking up every keystroke when I type fast and it results in many typos. I have had this issue both with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. I tried updating the keyboard driver but that did not seem to help. It also seems like it might be a software thing rather than a hardware thing because it seems like the keys are more responsive in different programs. For example, as I am typing this, it has happened once or twice but when I open up Microsoft Word, it looks like I'm a beginning typer! Has anyone come across this before? I did some research and some people had success with uninstalling the Synaptics driver but it looks like that is an older driver since it didn't appear on my computer.
