What does "Cannot record?" mean when taking pictures/recording?

Whenever the SX700 HS takes pictures or records it outputs an error saying "Cannot record"

This is probably occurring due to not enough storage in your camera. Try backing up the content on your memory card and deleting any old media. Alternatively, you could use another memory card.
