I replaced the keyboard and the upper case on my A1226. Now I find the keyboard back lighting doesn't work. Any ideas?

Replace the LED.

Desolder the old, most likely burnt out,LED the replace it with a new one.

I replaced my lower case, and had the same problem once I got my computer back in order.
