Why is the battery of my Ematic Genesis 2 not charging and stops functioning when not plugged in?

If the tablet turns off right away after unplugging it then it needs a battery replacement, what does it do when plugged into charger?

There are several possible reasons for the tablet not charging
Check to make sure the power adapter is plugged in. If it is, make sure the light on the adapter is on. If the light is not on, and the adapter is plugged in, the adapter is faulty. Consider purchasing a replacement adapter.
If the adapter is plugged in, and the light on the adapter is on, make sure the adapter is connected to the tablet. If the tablet only powers on when the device is plugged in, regardless of charging time, then the battery is faulty and needs to be replaced.
If the power adapter will not connect to the tablet or will not stay plugged in, or if the tablet is not charging or turning on when plugged in, then the charging port may be faulty or damaged.
