How to fix accidental alcohol smudges, on inside of digitizer glass?

After, what seemed to be a successful replacement of an iPad digitizer / glass screen, I noticed there was no screen display (this was the 1st attempt at repairing an iPad screen, and checking all the bells and whistles before sealing, was an oversight). Luckily I was able to lift the glass, make the repair, and gently re-seat the glass.

After testing all the touch screen functions, I noticed there was a smudge on the INSIDE of the glass, so I lifted the screen off, again.

I attempted to remove the smudge with a 50/50 alcohol/water solution, which removed the smudge BUT left the spot a bit lighter, than the rest of "film" on the interior of the glass, and IS noticeable from the front of the backlit screen.

At this point, should I continue to wipe down the ENTIRE inside of the glass, to remove any visual imperfections, or is there another solution? Will this cause any touch sensitivity issues?

Also, since I have gently placed and removed the glass 2 times, will the adhesive be rendered useless?

Would using the heat gun, after sealing, improve the seal?

It's lying opened until I get an answer

thanks

There should be no touch sensitivity issues as long as you do not damage the digitizer cable.

You should not wipe down the rest of the screen with alcohol, you should use a microfiber cloth. It seems that the alcohol removed some of the display coating on the inside.

The adhesive will probably lose some of its stickyness, a heat gun might help. The only way to tell if the used adhesive still works is to reattach it, apply heat and check to see if the digitizer sticks to the case after it has cooled. My recommendation is to remove the used adhesive and replace it.

Yes, exactly, the 50/50 water/alcohol solution DID remove small spots of the coating on the inside of the glass. Since those spots are now visible, wouldn't cleaning /removing the display coating from the ENTIRE inside of the glass be preferable to the noticeable spots created, when we tried to remove fingerprint smudges? Will removing ALL the interior display coating effect the function of the ipad?

You can remove the rest of the coating, but it will probably be splochy unless you can get all of the coating off. Again, it shouldnt affect the digitizer.

My son said it took some effort to get the fingerprint smudges off the inside of the glass, which is why he resorted to the 50/50 alcohol/water solution, that caused the fingertip sized spots, so it's a no go on doing that to the ENTIRE inside of the screen.

As it turns out. they're not visible, at all, once you turn the ipad on.

I don't know if those spots have anything to do with THIS outcome, but now, I have a non responsive left column on my screen (in it's portrait mode, with camera on top, & button on bottom). I can swipe apps to the right, but not to the left, unless I turn my ipad 180 degrees.

I even downloaded a drawing app, and attempted to fill the screen, which revealed an empty left column.

Could those 2 small spots where the inside screen film as removed, cause this?

I watched as the new digitizer was snuggly installed and the tape-like wire gently taped down, to make sure it wouldn't get damaged/pinched, when attaching the new screen, so we're at a bit of a loss.
