Do I need to buy digitizer or the LCD

Hi

My lumia 820 fell a couple of weeks ago and got its screen cracked. The strange thing is, the outside screen was fine, but a single crack happened in the inside. Now the display is not working. I opened the phone and noticed that the inside of the digitizer was broken. So i am a bit confused, is it because the digitizer was broken from the inside that the display is not working. Or is it the LCD (which doesn't happen to have any scratches on it).

The LCD display is more delicate than the digitizer is. I have seen broken LCDs with intact digitizers in iPads and iPhones from being dropped. My suggestion is to replace both the LCD display and the digitizer since you noticed that the digitizer was broken on the inside. Usually a digitizer can break and still partially function with the LCD still working properly. Also, a LCD display can seem unbroken even if it is. The only way to tell if it still works is to have it turn on.

Always buy the two parts together even if it looks okay cause if your phone isn't displaying anything, it means the LCD display broke. And naturally if you drop your phone the glass has to take damage and you'll have to buy a new glass anyways.
