Can the display be replaced? Mine is starting to have lines and streaks.

You can definitely replace the display. Just use iFixit's display removal guide for your iMac to get it back in running order. You can also use the same guide to check if the display plug came loose and was causing a problem (unlikely, but there's still a chance).
By the way, it may not be the display that's causing the problem. It could potentially be a faulty inverter, video card, or even the logic board.
