Replaced battery powered on for a minute

This is probably of no help to anyone, but I changed out my battery per IFixit instructions and after I had the same results as Roscoe E. I connected to iTunes & it recognized my phone gave me the serial number and then told me it needed a software update. I clicked to update and it then told me it could not update the phone and to do a reset. I clicked the reset icon and it started downloading software and unpacking it and eventually started to update. When the update got to about 60% it told me the update had failed and it needed to be reset. I went through this about 3 or 4 times and decided that since I had another new battery(bought 2) I would replace the new battery with the other new battery carefully following the instructions and this time when I pushed the power button the Apple logo came up followed by the connect to ITunes and I went through the same routine as before without being able to complete the update or the reset/restore. I'm sure we both would appreciate any possible suggestions or help.
