time and date reset when turning on
When I turn the camera on, it asks for me to set the time and date. It does this every time I turn the camera on. Can I fix this? Thanks

Hi,
This is taken from the User Manual:
Your internal date/time battery may be just flat. Try either inserting a charged camera battery and leaving it for 4 hours or connecting a charger to the camera (with the regular battery installed) and see if it will charge. You can test it by seeing if the date and time holds.
The internal battery, as best as I can find out, is buried inside the camera. In other words, not easy to access and replace.
It is supposed to have a 'life' of approximately 5 years. How old is your camera? If it is less than this, the battery has failed prematurely. You may be able to get Canon to repair it under warranty as the camera has not performed as stated. I don't think they will agree but it never hurts to ask.

Thank you! I bought the camera used, it appeared to be in good condition except for noticing this when we started using it. I will give the recharging advice at try first and see how it goes. The camera still seems to operate fine otherwise except for this prompt when turned on. Thanks again!
