Why can't I take pictures?

My Polaroid is beautiful and turns on fine, with the button turning green. However, when I hold down the button to take a picture, nothing comes out. No noise, no shutter click, ect. I'm thinking that the button might be broken. Could someone please help me? I would really appreciate it. I'd at least like to figure out what's wrong.
