ps4 unrecognizable say DISC
my ps4 wont read any disc. it would start loading/spinning making loud sound and after a few second it would say unrecognizable disc. what can I do to fix this problem

Many times this problem is fixed by replacing the laser, sometimes it's fixed by replacing the disc drive and a few times (rarely) it's fixed by swapping the green drive board with another after the chip has been swapped (so it stays married to the motherboard).

is it hard to replace the laser? I live in the boonies and have no close repair shop.
it plays madden but it want play NBA2K17

Same persistent problem. Have replaced the optical drive taking care to retain the 'married' daughter board, all well-connected, updated 3.50, all to no avail. Accepts the disk, spins, changes gears, and a few seconds later..."Unrecognized disk." For any disk. Won't load a game, not a DVD, not even a CD--although I did read somewhere that Sony had initially released the PS4 without that functionality... Basically the replacement drive is behaving as badly as the drive it was meant to correct.
Question is why? Bad Sony mojo? I read in another iFixit thread, the cable connecting the mobo is potentially delicate and needs to be checked for torn "ears" at the ends of the cable, and for perfect alignment. I will rule that tomorrow, but I am not optimistic this is the problem. If it is, I will gladly report here. If it is not, I will regress to a previous PUP >2.5x to see if this makes any difference in the disk recognition issue, and so report here anyway.
