screen not working need ideas

I was using isopropyl alcohol (74%) to wipe off the exterior of my phone (HTC One). I dropped it, it knocked over the bottle and both fell into the sink. Phone got some on it. I immediately wiped if off. phone continued to work ok for about 2 hours, left the phone alone for another 2 hours then went to use it and screen would not work. pwr button, volume buttons work and can hear phone ringing with a blank screen. ordered new screen and replaced old one. Screen still does not work but phone rings and other keys still working. when I hold the power button for approx 10 seconds the back arrow and home home icon will flash. Any ideas on what might be wrong or what I should do? Also, if I cannot get it to work, is there a way to pull all the data off the phone to have put on a new one?
