Looking for the values of 2 SMDs around the digitizer connector.

Hi,

I managed to damage two SMDs around the digitizer connector on the motherboard. I don't know what is their purpose, I suppose it is connected with the stable working of the digitizer. The SMDs are the ones bellow the digitizer connector and next to the headphones jack. They look like a 0603s, but I don't know what they are - capacitors or diodes (I don't think they are resistors, but I might be wrong). Can someone identify them for me. Are they 0603 and how many farads, voltage and what is the polarity.

Capacitors are usually tan. They look like they would be filters or resistors based on the way they are connected and the color/shape (hopefully we are looking at the same parts). I just looked at the tear down pictures. I couldn't find schematics amazingly. A picture with the parts circled would eliminate all doubt of whether or not we are looking at the same parts. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. :(

I'm attaching a picture from iFixit it with an arrow, thanks for the pointers. I did a bit of research, as I don't work that often with SMDs, and indeed caps are mostly brown from what I found. Again by judging of the placement and going with a multimeter around the digitizer port, I think those are resistors and are either pull-up or pull-down. Usually I use 10k for pulling up, but that is for completely different things. I have a friend with a working 1+1, he'll measure them in couple of days.

Actually at this point identifying the size would be best. Do you think those are 0603?

I really can't tell what size they are without seeing the actual board in person. You can measure them and determine the size by a conversion chart. It is really a simple formula (unless you're using English units). The length is 10 x the mm measured. The width is the same. So a 402 component is 0.4mm by 0.2mm. thanks, I know how to measure and convert them, most of my problems are that I recently moved to a new country and got a laptop, my phone and couple of boxes with some arduinos and dev boards, soldering iron and a handful of screwdrivers. That's about it, most of my instruments are back where I'm originally from and I still lack a lot of equipment. I'll improvise however, I wonder if this is 0603 or 0402, but I'll find a way to measure those. I also have to find a bigger magnifying glass. :). By the way I'm almost certain those are pull up/down resistors rated at 1kOhm.

Sorry to give you unneeded information. They are definitely pull-up resistors because they are not connected to ground which is all around them. However, that doesn't matter since the parts are the same either way. Hope you get it working!
