Replace keyboard from a 2013-14 modell

Hi guys, I have a late 2015 15" retina MBP.

I spilled water over the keyboard and now I'm unable to start the system.

I am not able to find any keyboard that exactly matches my model.

But the 2012-13-14 seem to look similar.

US layout.

Thanks for your help

Update (04/12/2016)

Thank you so much for such a detailed answer.

I've opened it up before and there is absolutely no water signs underneath the logic board ( I didn't remove the backlight foil...)

After I put everything back together, I was able to start the maschine but

The keyboard is making stupid things "I press 1 I'd presses S or something like this.

The backlight is still working.

I'm pretty convinced it is just the keyboard.

That's why I'd like to know if a (1398) 2012 13 or 14 retina keyboard would fit my mid 2015 retina (1398)

Also if its recommended to replace the whole assembly to make it easier ?

And what about the backlight to avoid repeat repairs ??

Thanks !!!

To make it easier, will a 2012/13/14 retina 15" MBP keyboard fit a mid 2015 Retina 15" MBP ??

Or can somebody provide a source for where yo get this kind of keyboard as I can't find anything that convince me to 100% that it fits

Thanks to everybody for the attention.

Did you test the system out as I explained? I would start there to make sure it was the keyboard. I would also check the ribbon connections at the logic board and at the trackpad. I use a piece of electrical tape to create a pull to help me disconnect the ribbon cables as well as pushing them in. You may want to double check your connections as mis-type keys often are mis-aligned cables or damaged connections.

Yes I did, it turns on and works perfectly fine.

Just now I got it to even start with the keyboard reconnected and I'm able to adjust the backlight so that seems to be fine.

Reopened it and disconnected the battery for now...

I'm 100% sure it is the keyboard

And maybe in future the backlight or whatever is under the black foil (the foil u see when the logic board is removed)

So my question.

1. What keyboard will fit in my 2015 mid MBP retina 15" 1398

As I can only find them for models 12-13-14

2. What would be a good online store to get this part ?

3. And also, will I need screws ?? Or any special glue ?

4. Is further damage of the backlight possible as it sits under the keyboard that would make sense to me ?

Thanks for your patience :)

You may have other problems here besides the keyboard.

To test things out carefully disconnect your internal keyboard/trackpad ribbon cable following this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2014 Logic Board Replacement disconnect the battery following the first steps, stopping at Step 4. Then jump down to Step 24 to disconnect the keyboard/trackpad cable.

Be gentle as you can easily damage the connector as well as the ribbon cable here. I use some electrical tape folded over to make a pull tab to help me pulling the ribbon out as well as pushing it in. With the cable disconnected plug your battery back in and connect an external USB keyboard & mouse as well as your MagSafe power adapter.

Now carefully set the system on its side so you can still get to the bottom of the system and see the screen. Then locate the power pads which are two square solder pads between the connectors in this image: Power Pads near Keyboard Right fan & I/O board cable connectors. Using a screw driver short across them.

Are your able to start your system now? If not you have more issues here.
