Tightened screen hinges, now no backlight

I followed the guide to replacing a screen but instead of replacing I just tightened my screen hinges, put it all back together and I thought I broke the display cord as it was just a black screen, but after shining a light through the back of the apple logo I've found its the back light isn't turning on. Plugging into external hdmi display or watching the internal display with a flash light the Mac boots till about 1/3 of the loading bar than it stops and eventually turns off as well.

Where should I start I've researched it could be a logic board fuse, but I called a couple repair stores in my area and the one claimed the backlight is in the display and would need a new display.
