not getting ac from charger

italic texthi... my batteries in the transformer are on it`s last days!...but shouldnt the charger while pluged into the wall socket keep the tablet running even if the batteries die?......the charger isnt getting any power from the wall socket!...I`ve tested the charger...its ok?!!!.
