Phone memory recovery through files browsing & delete

My phone shows free phone memory of 34.4MB

This is not allowing installation of Whats app which was there in phone, but old version.

The flash says insufficient memory.

When I want to delete unwanted applications, it does not allow.

When I go through files, folders show "Empty"

Phone otherwise is working fine.

Can any one help??
