My 2009 Equinox has been sitting. The rear wheels are locked

I took the break shoes off there fine besides some rust but the router wheel is still locked up. I was told to tap it with a hammer till it breaks free. Is this sound right?

@jackslade you need to check to see if the axles spin with the brakes off. then you know that it is the shoes binding with the drum. Check your brake cylinders and your parking brake. Make sure they are not seized.
