What test equipment should I get?

I used to me a television technician, but I have not been working in that field for over ten years, I am preparing to retire from my present job and get into LCD and LED TV service and repairs.

I still have my old tools and equipment that are still functional, but I want to invest in the necessary modern test equipment, and I am seeking advice as to what I should should purchase.

Could someone please advise me?

Thank you.

At the very least you'll need a LED/LCD panel tester. They usually run under $100. Of course you will also need the correct connector for the device you are testing. Most kits come with standard cables but you will need to purchase specific ones for devices such as phones and tablets. Here is an example of one on eBay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/LED-LCD-Panel-Te...

charroo you really just need a few additional tools. You still need an oscilloscope just like in the "olden" days. LED/CCFL tester is always good to have. This will allow you to test the panels backlight. Than you need a good multimeter, a capacitance meter still comes in handy. After that, get a couple of good hand tools like a set of Philips screwdrivers. What you definitely will have to have is a good set of schematics. Since most of the boards are meant to be replaced there is not a lot of component information out there. So I'd focus on that. Always keep a good supply of common replacement boards. I prefer to repair Samsung, Sony and Panasonic over Vizio :-)but then I am just a tinkerer. There really are no LED TV's (just ask Samsung). You'd be dealing with LCD/DLP and Plasma TV's out there
