My phone soft-bricked two days back after it showed an error while updating its System and I got it repaired later.
Now again I'm getting an system update notification.
Should I accept the update or never update my phone! Because I don't want to risk another brick again.

Charge the phone first and try the system update again. Shouldn't brick this time. If it does you probably know that you need to flash the RUU firmware or factory reset.

How do you flash the RUU or do a factory reset?
Software support is pretty bad for HTC so the person would require to find a file called an ruu with the matching model number and MID which is basically a ruu.exe file which extracts a firmware compressed file that you place onto a SD card that is named after the model number of your phone then you flash it via recovery. It's hard to explain so I'll try to link a guide to it later.
Basically if the phone gets bricked and you can't find firmware the phone is a basically a brick.
