My iBook G3 died on me one day. I would no longer power on when I hit the power button, there is no chime, no fan sound, no image on the display. I know that my battery is good because I have tested it on an iBook G4 and my power adapter is from eBay so it doesn't have the fancy light that the Apple ones do. Please help!

Remove the battery and AC adapter and hit the power button for 10 seconds. If the battery is charged, put it in and try to start. If you can, test the AC adapter on the G4 and charge the battery on it. Let us know the results and we can proceed. Do you have a multimeter?

Hey mayer, thanks a lot! I took my iBook on a camping trip today and left it in the freezing cold overnight, and this morning it wouldn't turn on at all! I did get a reaction when I performed a PMU reset but it still wouldn't power on, the charger worked and the battery charged as well, but after I tried your solution it suddenly powered up again!
My gratitude is infinitely big!

Which specific model do you have? It'll help if you can give us the exactly model number found on the bottom of your case, that way we can direct you to the proper replacement parts.

Hi - the model is iBook A1005. It is one of those 600mhz models. I tried unplugging the battery and AC adapter and pressing the power button for 10 seconds, but still nothing is working. I also have charged up a fresh new battery from my G4 and plugged it into the dead G3 but still nothing is happening. Funny thing is that the dead G3 actually charges the battery! Any suggestions?
