Why won't the screen detach from the keyboard?

I press the detach button on the keyboard, but I can't remove the screen. Why can't I remove it, and what can I do fix it?

Make sure the laptop is charged to at least 10% battery. If this doesn’t work, try clicking the detach button on the screen.
