Best way to bring back a dead battery?

Hi!

I have an iPhone 5s which is not working (won't connect to iTunes or power up, and it has a shattered screen).

I don't really have a desire to spend much money on fixing this phone so I am trying to do everything possible before ordering new parts.

I suspect that the charging port/battery is defective. Therefore, I've been googling online to try and find a way to 'boost' the battery back to life. The simplest way I have found is to heat it up with a hair dryer then plug it back into the phone.

I'm wondering, would this be safe and is there any other method/thing I should do to troubleshoot/fix the phone (without ordering new parts).

If you fix iPhones regularly and run into battery issues I recommend using this:

https://www.amazon.com/Kaisi%C2%AE-Batte...

It allows you to rapidly charge up batteries safely externally for testing the iPhones.

It also is used to reactivate dead batteries (a.k.a bring them back to life)

Thanks, seems like a great product but a bit too 'heavy duty' for me.

@imadknight no it is not nor will it work. The battery is most lightly depleted below its charging threshold. Sometimes you can wake-up the battery. For that use a 9V PP3 battery. Attach positive from that battery to positive of the iPhone battery, same with the negative. Keep this connected for something like 15 minutes (not an exact science) after that try and see if it does charge. Or you could just spend the `$10USD for a new battery.

Thanks, Il try this out. Sadly living in Sweden means that buy a battery and getting it shipped to my apartment is a pain in both the behind and my wallet.

I can most certainly understand that. Give it a try and hopefully it works for you.

When a phone does not boot, it is usually not the battery, especially when mechanical damage is present.

Also charging a completely flat (below charging threshold) battery is dangerous. The copper anode plate has dissolved and If you charge it, the dissolved copper may crystallize and form dendrites that will short the battery plates and iPhone will turn into a Note 7.

Well, that's confidence aspiring! I too suspect that it's not the battery but rather the dock connector. Thanks for the advice, and I appreciate the warning.
