Upgrade Logic board to newer model
While I understand that I can replace the logic board should it get damage or simply stop working, my question is would it be possible to upgrade it with one from a later model(e.g 2009 to 2011). I understand that the connector locations changed over the years so if it's possible what would the latest year I could upgrade to?

No, not really. The front camera connector is different from the models newer than 2009.
2010 is physically not going to fit while 2011 'might' fit but I wouldn't try my luck on that.
