I have been getting the same error message. The suspension rods have been replaced as well as the rotor position sensor. I will not hear a banging sound at all yet the spin cycle will stop with the UL code. I am about ready to just buy a new washing machine. ughhhhhh

Me too sister, this is the WORST washer I have ever owned. I have already had it repaired once. I will be buying another brand now, this thing is a piece of garbage.

I am just curios how your repair turned out. I am having the same problem.

Having the same problem. I bought mine in 2013. Had it fixed once in 2015, under warranty from Lowe's. Then just recently, it was making a very loud sound during the spin cycle. Yesterday and today, the UL display comes up. My loads aren't huge or unbalanced. I really make sure of that. Doesn't get past the spin and rinse. Possibly the bearings, and of course those aren't covered in Maytag's limited 10-year warranty. SAD!!!!!!

is it worth trying to repair?

If the "UL" unbalanced load error comes up there is a mechanical issue or bad CCU.

I have the same problem! And yes I'm getting a banging sound...

Cause 1

Tub Bearing

The tub bearing is mounted in the middle of the outer tub. The tub bearing helps to keep the inner tub spinning smoothly. Replacing the tub bearing is a very involved repair and will require disassembling most of the washer. If the tub bearing is defective, we recommend replacing both the outer tub and bearing as an assembly if the manufacturer offers the components together.

I'm getting same error code with or without clothes in the washer ?

martina2020 besides the things that @mayer mentions, there are a few things that can cause this. Check the suspension kit of the drum to make sure that it is not excessively loose. Most commonly for this model is a failed rotor position sensor or a cracked stator on the motor. To check that, you will have to check the bottom on your washer. Make sure that the motor bolt is tight

My Maytag Bravos MCT was making a terrible loud noise during spinning. Now during the spin cycle with 17 minutes left it shuts down and I get the UL error. I believe the load was unbalanced. But now it is doing it with every load ? Any suggestions?

I am having uL issues, and in the diagrams you posted, there’s is a counterweight, while mine has none. Got mine used from someone who got it from an estate sale, so if it had one it got lost somewhere. Bottom of the drum has holes to hold one, but everyone’s pictures or videos of the washer doesn’t have a counterweight. Also can’t seem to find one online. Suggestions?

Did you ever get the answer to this? I’m in the same predicament. Everything else looks good except for that missing counterweight. And if it fell off, I sure don’t see where it went!

My Maytag Bravos has run flawlessly since bought new in 2010. About 2 to 3 weeks ago it started the constant uL error and shutdown, even when empty, run on drain and spin cycle. I followed all advice to repair it, but still the same. Now I will be installing an alternate, CCU, a used one, but guaranteed in good service order. Since problem started I have replaced the two bearings and shaft, replaced the suspension rods, replaced the RPS. I did all repairs in perfect condition. Mechanically this machine is in perfect condition, but I just ran it empty on “Drain and Spin", and it disappointed again. It shut down with uL code promptly at 8.5 minutes remaining in the cycle. It shuts down with UL code at 8.5 minutes remaining in the cycle EVERY TIME. I figured it has to be the CCU must be faulty since the shutdown time is the same, at 8.5 minutes remaining in the cycle. The Electronic Control Board will arrive soon and will be installed right away, only 30 minutes job. I examined the current control board visually, but did not see any visible problems, but going to install the replacement board regardless. I will update my comments when i do.

Im at the same spot and eager to hear your results.

Hello! I finally figured it out. I had changed the tub seal and bearings and the suspension rods and springs. It worked fine for about a week. Then the UL kept coming on. Finally I gave it it one more chance and was going to see if the stator was cracked or if the bolt was loose. The stator was not cracked, but the bolt that tightens the stator was backed off about 1/4” inch. I think that I will use some thread lock on it next week, but for now, I stuck a screwdriver in one of the holes in he stator to keep it stationary while I tightened it down real good. It purrs like a kitten now, and more importantly, no UL code.

Did the new circuit board fix your problem? Mine is doing the same thing. Took the rotor and stator off and see no cracked or excessive wear on them. Wife said it was stopping at the same time every time, and showed the ul error. However it hardly had a load, and I was able to repeat it with the tub empty.

Yes, please let us know if the new circuit board fixed the problem. Mine is driving me nuts!!

How much money and time dd you invest in this process?

MsJ JAS well we would at least need to know your washers make and model and the exact nature of the issue. Is it worth it? Most likely unless you have extra money to spare :-))

In my case I did the full bearing replacement. Once put back together same UL on final spin, plus a rubbing noice from below. Turns out the screw that holds the rotor onto the stator has a welded on washer and could only be tightened so much leaving a visible gap. I used a large cotter pin to fill that gap thus holding it tight. Fixed, runs nice n smooth. I could have replaced the screw but this worked for me.
