Hi. I accidentally poked the top mic hole instead of the sim tray with the pin. What an idiot! Mic still works fine, but does anyone have any information on the waterproof setup of the mic. Might I have compromised it? Is the waterproof device directly in the hole? Thanks

Hi thanks for your help. From the outside of the phone there is no noticeable damage at all. So sorry I can't help with that. Would you expect to see that broken if it has compromised the waterproof?
It it looks fine, then I wouldn't worry about it, test it by going into phone, type *#0*# and then click sensor. Find pressure and then press on the screen. If it goes up, it is waterproof. If not, then it probibly isn't waterproof anymore. If your confident, put it in some shallow water and see what happens.
On brand new phones the pressure goes up slightly and then drops web release to lower than original number and then back up. Remember these are water resistant phones. Under pressure, be it water or air, either can get past the seals if increased beyond the point of the seal. Without pressure, water doesn't force it way past seals. With enough pressure even a submarine will leak.

hi thanks again. I tried what you said but I can't see anything that says 'pressure' to test. Am I in the right place?

Yes, it is the barometer. It says altitude and barometer, it is mainly used for weather but it should work for this too.
I think the only real way to test it is to put it in water, but it should be fine if it looks fine.
